About the photographies
« This series presents visitors with panoramic compositions, with pronounced contrasts, subtle chromatic choices expressed in black and white and which project the visitor into distorted imagery. I create a bridge between classic photography and new digital technologies through the study of landscape. This study questions us about the major changes we are facing in this period of climatic changes. »
– Robert Perrault
biography
Robert Perrault was born and lived in Montreal. He is a very active artist in the visual arts world for over thirty years. Multidisciplinary, he works in photography, painting and art video.
Upon leaving university, he got involved in two self-managed centers in Montreal: Articule and P.R.I.M. video where he was an active member on the board. He also had an atypical career in teaching at the level of community organizations in different regions of Quebec (Montreal, Laurentides, Gaspésie). He was involved with groups of young people facing specific problems; school dropouts with Le Pouvoir des mots de Gaspé and with hard drug users for the Portage organization.
His artistic practice, based on his intuitive sense, coupled with an investment in the educational environment, has allowed him to create works with a unique tone. Several of his photographs were exhibited in galleries and presented in numerous competitions.
Today he is involved in carrying out research that questions humans about changes in ecosystems and their geological transformation. His artistic approach looks at the photographic paradox: the recording of reality and its artistic representation.
His studies: a baccalaureate in visual arts which includes a certificate in engraving earned him an honorable mention at the Albi prize at UQÀM. He is currently completing a Master’s degree at UQTR.
